There’s something special about the way offense is humming for the KU football team through two games. As our Matt Tait points out in this story, the diversity in the passing game has resulted in 10 players catching passes. As for the signal callers, they’re completing 75% of their throws.

KU’s offense ranks 10th nationally heading into a road game against Nevada this Saturday.

This is Wave the Wheat, and here are 5 Things You Missed This Week.

#5 - From Down Under

Not one but—count ‘em!—two KU athletes hail from the Land Down Under, aka Australia. Freshman punter Damon Greaves and freshman wing Johnny Furphy. How did they end up in Lawrence and what do they miss most about home? Read all about it here.

#4 - A fresh start

If you haven’t heard the name Hallie Klanke, take a breath to read up on the resilient leader of the Jayhawks soccer team. “She really brings that competitiveness to the group that can become contagious,” coach Mark Francis says.

#3 - What’s in a name

Don’t ask KU offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki what to call his offense. “I’m open to ideas,” he says. The misdirection, constant motion, and trick plays make it difficult to stop the KU offense. We’ve got an idea. How about “Can’t Touch This.” (Cue MC Hammer). Eh…eh!?! Fine. We’re open to your thoughts.

#2 - Sneaky assassin

Ayah Elnady is most dominant for the Kansas volleyball team 30 feet away from the net, where her serves are a bona fide weapon for the Jayhawks.

#1 - Didn’t miss a beat

JD6 remains QB1. Fresh off an injury, Jalon Daniels zigged and zagged and zipped in the Jayhawks’ 34-23 win over Illinois, proving why he’s the best man for the job.
