Kansas basketball coach Bill Self, who was admitted to LMH Health in Lawrence earlier this week after concerning symptoms led to him having two stents put in, was released from the hospital on Saturday.

Self, who is set to enter his 23rd season in charge of the program, returned to his Lawrence home around noon, feeling "strong" and thrilled to be home.
“I want to thank all the amazing doctors and nurses at LMH Health for the excellent care I received during my stay there," Self said in a statement from Kansas Athletics. "I feel strong and am excited to be home. Our team has had a productive summer and (I) look forward to our batteries being recharged and prepping for this upcoming season.”
Self was taken to LMH Health by ambulance on Thursday after experiencing what a KU release said were "concerning symptoms" that led to him feeling "unwell."
The press release confirming Self's trip to the hospital said that the KU coach's spirits were good and that a full recovery was expected.
This marked the second time since the spring of 2023 that Self had been hospitalized for a heart issue.
Back then, the KU coach missed the 2023 postseason. This time around, he has three full months before the season starts to regain his strength and energy, and more than two weeks before the Jayhawks report to campus for the start of the fall semester and coinciding practices.
