Notes and numbers from KU's 42-17 rivalry loss to Kansas State on Saturday afternoon at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
The loss dropped Kansas to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 play and pushed K-State's winning streak in the Sunflower Showdown series to 17 in a row, dating back to 2009.

• Redshirt senior quarterback Jalon Daniels scored the first points of the day with a 6-yard rushing touchdown, marking his 21st career rushing touchdown. Daniels is now tied for ninth in school history with Bill Whittemore, LT Levine and Laverne Smith
• The rushing touchdown was Daniels’ fourth career rushing touchdown against Kansas State. Daniels’ first career touchdown came against Kansas State on an 8-yard touchdown run in 2020
• Running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. scored his second touchdown of the season on a 3-yard touchdown rush, marking his 20th career touchdown
• With 173 yards total offense, Daniels now has 9,918 yards total offense and is 82 yards shy of becoming just the second player in KU history to amass 10,000 career total offense yards. Todd Reesing (2006-09) has the all-time mark with 11,840 yards total offense
• Kansas ended the first half with an 18 play, 85-yard drive that was capped off by Hishaw’s 3-yard touchdown. It was the first 18+ plus play drive with a touchdown scored since Sept. 16, 2017 at Ohio

Defensive Notes
• Blake Herold had a team-high seven tackles and a pass breakup. Herold’s seven tackles tied his career high. He also had seven tackles against West Virginia (9-20-25)
• Bangally Kamara’s five tackles were his second most this season. He had a season-high nine stops at Missouri (9-6-25)
• Trey Lathan had five tackles, marking the fifth time this season he has had five or more tackles
Special Teams Notes
• Safety Jalen Dye forced a fumble on the opening kickoff of the game, marking his third forced fumble of the season. The fumble was recovered by Ezra Vedral, marking his first career fumble recovery
• Laith Marjan has made 10-consecutive field goals this season and has converted on 22-straight dating back to the 2024 season. Marjan entered the contest with the longest active streak in the NCAA this season
