Throughout each season, there are interesting notes and nuggets of information that come out of every game, win or lose.
Here’s a quick look at some of the more interesting and noteworthy facts and stats from KU's second win of the season, an historic performance by both the KU offense and defense in a 55-0 rout of Middle Tennessee.

Team Notes
• Kansas is now 618-695-58 all-time, including 29-37 under head coach Lance Leipold. Leipold’s career record improved to 175-76 overall.
• With the win, Kansas has its first win over Middle Tennessee, making the series 1-0 in favor of Kansas.
• Kansas improves to 12-3 against current members of the Conference USA all-time, including its first win since defeating Louisiana Tech in 2013.
• Kansas improves to 13-7 in non-conference games under Lance Leipold.
• Kansas improves to 19-10 at home since the start of the 2022 season and 20-15 overall.
• Kansas improves to 4-0 when playing on ESPNU under Leipold, including 2-0 this season.
• Kansas is now 14-24 in day games (games played before 6 p.m. CT) under Leipold, including 1-1 in 2026.
• Kansas’ 55-0 win marked the largest margin of victory by Kansas against an FBS opponent since 1968, when Kansas defeated New Mexico 68-7. It was also the third-largest margin of victory against an FBS opponent all-time.

Offensive Notes
• Kansas set a new program record with 706 yards of total offensive, which included 480 rushing yards and 226 passing yards. The yardage surpassed the previous best of 651 yards against Vanderbilt in 1985.

• Kansas rushed for 480 yards and 6 touchdowns on 58 attempts against Middle Tennessee, marking the 18th game of 400+ rushing yards in school history. The yardage total ranks fifthhighest in a game in school history. The game marked the sixth time in head coach Lance Leipold’s tenure that KU rushed for more than 300 yards, and the first since 2024.

• Kansas rushed for 100 or more yards in three of the four quarters, with 109 yards, 96 yards, 107 yards and 168 yards in each respective quarter.
• The Jayhawks’ six rushing touchdowns marked the second time in the Leipold era that Kansas has rushed for six or more touchdowns in one game, joining the Sept. 2, 2022 contest against Tennessee Tech. It was Kansas’ 15th game with five or more rushing touchdowns in a single game since 1998.
• Running back Dylan Edwards ran for 137 yards on 20 carries and scored a career-high three rushing touchdowns, including his first as a Jayhawk. Edwards became the 22nd player in FBS to rush for 100+ yards and three or more touchdowns in a game this season.
• Edwards’ three touchdowns on Saturday marked his second career game with two or more rushing touchdowns and his fourth career multi-touchdown game. It was his first multi-touchdown game since rushing for two touchdowns against Rutgers in the 2024 Rate Bowl.
• Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall completed 13-of-22 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, while also recording a new career high rushing yards with 110 yards. Marshall’s 110 rushing yards marked the first 100+ yard rushing game by a KU quarterback since Jalon Daniels rushed for 130 yards against Houston in 2022.
• Marshall and Edwards both eclipsed the 100 yard mark on the ground in Saturday’s game, marking the first time since November 28, 2025 vs Utah that two or more Jayhawks rushed for 100 or more yards in the same game.
• With 3:47 left in the third quarter, Nahzae Cox hauled in a 34-yard touchdown pass from Marshall. The touchdown reception was the longest of his career, surpassing his previous long of 14 yards in 2025 while at Middle Tennessee.
• Kansas outscored Middle Tennessee 17-0 in the second quarter. The Jayhawks are now outscoring opponents 62-21 in the second quarter this season.
Defensive Notes
• Kansas limited Middle Tennessee to 138 yards of total offense, which is the fewest yards allowed by the Jayhawks in Lance Leipold’s tenure at KU. The Jayhawks have now held two of their first four opponents of the season to 150 yards of total offense or less. • Kansas recorded its first shutout since September 6th, 2008 against Louisiana Tech when the Jayhawks won 29-0.
• The Jayhawks recorded 30 total tackles and seven tackles for loss, with 18 different players recording at least one tackle.
• Kansas safety Taylor Davis recorded two pass breakups on Saturday, marking a new career high, while also adding his second career tackle for loss. Davis has four pass breakups over his career.
• Linebacker Bam Crouch recorded two total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, both new highs in his time with the Jayhawks.
• Jayhawks defensive end Dak Brinkley recorded his first sack of the season with 12:59 left in the first half.
• With 2:48 remaining in the third quarter, defensive end Leroy Harris III recorded a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The fumble marked Harris’ third straight game with a forced fumble.
Special Teams Notes
• With 6:03 left in the first quarter, Martin Connington connected on a 43-yard field goal to score the Jayhawks’ first points on an opening drive this season.
• Connington went 2-for-2 on field goals in the game, connecting from 43 and 35 yards out, and was 7-for-7 on extra points. He is now 4-of-6 on field goals this season, including 2-of-4 from 40-49 yards, and 18-of-18 on extra points.
• The Jayhawks forced Middle Tennessee to punt nine times, marking two straight games the Jayhawks forced their opponent to punt nine times in a game.
