Notes and numbers from KU's 42-17 road loss at No. 9 Texas Tech on Saturday night in Lubbock, Texas.
The loss dropped Kansas to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play and continued the Jayhawks win-lose-win-lose alternating stretch, which dates back to Aug. 29.

• Kansas moved to 615-689-58 all-time, including 26-31 in the Lance Leipold era. Leipold’s career record improves to 172-70 overall.
• The Kansas and Texas Tech series is now 24-2 all-time in favor of the Red Raiders, including 12-1 in games played in Lubbock.
• Kansas is now 31-186-2 against AP ranked opponents all-time, including 11-97-2 against AP Top-10 opponents.
Offensive Notes
• Kansas redshirt senior center Bryce Foster started his 47th game overall, including his 19th at KU. Foster has now started 31 consecutive games dating back to his time at Texas A&M, which is the most active starts on the team.
• Kansas got on the scoreboard in the second quarter on a 10-yard passing touchdown from Jalon Daniels to Leshon Williams. The touchdown was Williams’ second receiving touchdown of the season and his seventh overall.
• Late in the first half, Daniels hit redshirt senior tight end Boden Groen for a 24-yard touchdown, marking Groen’s third touchdown of the season and sixth of his career. His 3 receiving touchdowns this season tied a season-high of 3 set in 2023 while at Rice.
• Groen finished the game with 13 catches for 76 yards and a touchdown, marking a new career-high in receptions. Groen’s previous high of 6 came in 2023 against Florida Atlantic.
• Groen’s 13 receptions were the most by a Jayhawk since Dezmon Briscoe caught 14 passes against Missouri on Nov. 28, 2009, while it was the most by a KU tight end in school history.
• Daniels’ 2 passing touchdowns gave Daniels 63 for his career, including 18 this season, which tie a career-high. Daniels also threw for 18 touchdown passes in 2022, which are tied for the fifth-most in single season school history.
• Redshirt junior wide receiver Cam Pickett recorded 6 catches for 55 yards.

Defensive Notes
• In the second quarter, sophomore Leroy Harris III recorded a solo sack, giving him a team-leading 4.5 sacks for the season.
• Kansas redshirt senior Bangally Kamara set a career-high 3.0 tackles-for-loss on Saturday, while giving him 8.0 TFL’s this season. Kamara’s 8.0 tackles-for-loss lead the team and are the most in a single season over Kamara’s career.
• In the second quarter, redshirt sophomore Taylor Davis recorded his first-career interception. The interception was Kansas’ fourth of the season and first since Trey Lathan hauled in an interception against West Virginia on Sept. 21, 2025.
• Redshirt senior Lyrik Rawls led the team and matched his career high of 10 tackles, including a career-high eight solo tackles.
Special Teams Notes
• At the end of the first half, redshirt senior kicker Laith Marjan connected on a 55-yard field to make the score 21-17 going into halftime. The kick made Marjan 10-of-10 on field goals this season, marking a streak of 21-consecutive made fields, dating back to the 2024 season while at South Alabama. Marjan’s streak is the longest-active streak in the NCAA.
• Marjan’s 55-yard field goal also marked a new career high, besting his previous career-high of 49 yards set in 2024 at LSU. Marjan’s 55-yard field goal is tied for the sixth-longest field goal in school history and the longest since Jacob Bransetter hit a 57-yard field goal against Oklahoma in 2009.
