Notes and numbers from Friday's 31-21 loss to No. 13 Utah at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in what turned out to be the season finale for Lance Leipold's fifth KU football team.
The loss dropped Kansas to 5-7 on the season — for the second straight year — and gave the Jayhawks their fifth loss in the past six games after a 4-2 start.

Leipold and company will now turn their attention to the first national signing day, next Wednesday, and the early stages of an offseason roster rebuild that will help replace 33 seniors who appeared in their final games as Jayhawks on Friday.

Team Notes
• Kansas’ 290 rushing yards marked a season high, topping the 285 rushing yards set vs. Wagner on Aug. 29.
• Kansas’ 477 yards total offense was its third highest of the 2025 season - 631 vs. Wagner (8-29-25) and 597 vs. Cincinnati (9-27-25).
• Kansas had four penalties for 32 yards versus Utah. The Jayhawks have gone 21 consecutive games without losing more than 75 yards on penalties, the eighth-longest active streak in the FBS. They’ve gone 83 straight conference games without having 100+ penalty yards, the second-longest streak in Big 12 history behind Iowa State’s active 115-game streak.
Offensive Notes
• For the first quarter Kansas’ time of possession was 11:03 to Utah’s 3:57.
• Kansas redshirt senior running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. rushed 22 times for 107 yards and one touchdown, marking his 23rd career touchdown. Hishaw is now tied for fifth in Kansas school history for career rushing touchdowns, tying Brandon McAnderson, Jake Sharp and Chip Hilleary. His 22 carries tied his career high (22 at Texas Tech, 12-5-2020).
• Hishaw went over 2,000 career rushing yards to go along with 23 career rushing touchdowns. With 2,080 career rushing yards, he is just the second Jayhawk in the last 15 years to collect 2,000 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns over his career, joining former teammate Devin Neal.
• Hishaw’s 107 rushing yards marked his second career 100-yard rushing performance and first since rushing for 134 vs. UCF on Oct. 7, 2023.
• Senior running back Leshon Williams rushed for 104 yards on 15 carries, marking his second 100-yard rushing performance of the season and the fifth of his career. His 15 carries were a season high.
• With both Hishaw and Williams over 100 rushing yards, it marked the first time since Oct. 7, 2023 that Kansas had two players with over 100 rushing yards in the season game (Devin Neal, Daniel Hishaw Jr.).
• Kansas redshirt senior quarterback Jalon Daniels reached the endzone on a one-yard carry in the third quarter, marking his 23rd career rushing touchdown. The rushing touchdown tied Daniels for the school record for career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, tying Chip Hilleary.
• The rushing touchdown also marked Daniels’ 20th career game with a rushing touchdown, becoming the 11th Big 12 Conference quarterback to reach that mark.
Defensive Notes
• Kansas sophomore defensive end Leroy Harris III recorded his fourth pass breakup over the last three games, including his seven pass breakup this season. Harris is tied for the team lead in pass breakups this season with Lyrik Rawls.
• Kansas redshirt junior linebacker Trey Lathan forced and recovered a Utah fumble in the third quarter, marking his first forced fumble of the season and third of his career. It was also his second fumble recovery this season (at UCF, Oct. 4).
• Redshirt-senior safety Lyrik Rawls led KU with eight total tackles marking the fourth time this season he had had eight or more tackles in a game.
• Redshirt-senior linebacker Bangally Kamara had one pass broken up marking his third PBU of the season and 12th of his career.
Special Teams Notes
• Kansas redshirt senior kicker Laith Marjan has connected on 40 consecutive extra point attempts this season, which are the fourth most consecutively made extra points in a season in Kansas school history.
