The Kansas football team dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday to visiting Cincinnati, 37-34 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

The game, a wild display of offensive explosiveness and defensive ineptitude on both sides, dropped the Jayhawks to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play.

KU will now head out on the road for back to back games in the next two weeks — Oct. 4 at UCF and Oct. 11 at Texas Tech — before hitting its second of three bye weeks on Oct. 18 and returning home to play host to Kansas State on Oct. 25.

KU figures to be favored in its next outing, against a UCF team that just lost at Kansas State. And the Jayhawks will almost certainly be underdogs in the road game in Lubbock.

We've seen this program's resilience and willingness to stick together ever since Lance Leipold arrived. So there's no reason to think that won't be what happens moving forward. But there's also no reason to think that things would feel a lot better in Lawrence if this team was sitting at 4-1 and 2-0, knowing they were just a couple of minutes and one stop away from getting there.

Here's a look back at some of Saturday's action.
